Is Your Website Out of Date? A Fresh Look for Hull Business Owners

Is your website quietly putting people off?

This one is for the website you already have.

The one that has been up a few years. The one that was fine at the time. The one you now feel a bit awkward sending people to.

If it has gone quiet, looks tired, feels clunky, or has become impossible to update, The Once Over gives you a clear, friendly read on what is going on - and what is worth doing about it.

Book your free Once Over
TL;DR - Need the short version?

What is this page about?
It is for Hull businesses that already have a website, but it has seen better days. The dated one. The bolted-together one. The big fluffy monster that looks harmless enough, but is quietly making life harder than it needs to.

What is The Once Over?
A free look at your existing site. We start with a short kickstart call, then I review your website the way your customers, Google and AI search tools see it.

What will you look at?
What is working, what is holding you back, what is confusing, dated, missing or quietly costing you. Then we talk it through in a feedback chat.

Will you just tell me to start again?
No. Plenty of sites can be fixed or freshened up for far less than a rebuild. You get a straight answer either way.

What about AI search?
The Once Over flags whether your site is giving Google, ChatGPT and other AI search tools enough to understand and recommend you. If you want the in-depth version, the AI Search Review goes deeper.

How do I start?
Book The Once Over and we will have a quick kickstart call. About fifteen minutes, no technical words, no homework, no card details.

Your website's grown a beard

That site you put up a while ago. Still up there, still ticking over, but it's started to look its age. Out of date, slow on a phone, a logo you were quite proud of at the time.

Maybe it makes you wince a little when someone says "I'll have a look at your website." Maybe it's still got last year's prices on it. A team photo with two faces that left long ago. A service you quietly stopped offering two years back.

Your website's turned into a monster

Or maybe it’s a different sort of trouble. A bit of a Frankenstein site - or so packed with soft, fluffy wording that nobody can tell what you actually do.

The kind that makes you think, “Well, it’s not that bad.”

But under all that fuzz, it is still a bit of a beast.

Bits bolted on over the years by different people, none of whom you can reach now (a bit like Frankenstein).

Pages you forgot were there. Wording that has gone soft. Buttons that lead somewhere odd. Services you no longer offer. Maybe a few bits you cannot update at all.

Or perhaps it looks bright enough on the outside, but when you read it back, the words are there - but the message still does not really say anything..

The site exists.

But nobody really owns it, understands it, or knows what it is meant to be doing.

Either way, here's the bit that stings

Susi looks shocked at the state of an old website, showing how outdated sites can quietly work against a business

It just sits there.

It brings in nothing.

Nobody finds it.

And everyone else’s seems to look better than yours.

A website that brings in nothing is not neutral. It is quietly working against you while you are busy running the business.

And now there is a fresh worry on the pile. People are asking Google, ChatGPT and the like for recommendations, and you have no idea whether your old site is even being understood.

So why bother fixing it?

Fair question.

The site is up there. It is not obviously broken. You have a business to run.

But your website has one job: to help the right people choose you.

A call. An email. A booking. A proper enquiry.

If yours has gone quiet, when did it last bring you one?

Most out of date websites do not need drama. They need a clear look, a sensible plan, and someone to tell you what is actually worth doing.

That is where The Once Over comes in.

What a fresher website can do

A better website does not just look newer. It can help people understand you faster, trust you sooner and take action with less hesitation.

That might mean clearer wording, simpler pages, better mobile layout, updated services, stronger local signals, or a cleaner route to call, message or book.

Sometimes the fix is small. Sometimes it is bigger. The point is knowing which bits are actually holding things back.

Start with The Once Over

The Once Over is a free look at the website you already have.

First, we have a short kickstart call - about fifteen minutes. No technical words required. No homework. No card details. Just a quick chat so I can understand your business, your website, and what has been bothering you about it.

Then I take a proper look.

I look at your site the way your customers, Google and AI search tools see it.

What is working.

What is holding you back.

What is confusing, dated, missing or quietly costing you.

After that, we have a feedback chat to talk it through.

You get my honest read on where your site stands, what needs attention, and what is actually worth doing next.

Then I send you a simple snapshot of the key points and recommendations, so you have something useful to refer back to.

No commitment. No pressure. No 40-page report you will never open.

You come away knowing where your site actually stands, what needs attention, and whether it can be fixed, freshened up, or needs a bigger rethink.

That is it.

Free, useful, and yours.

Susi gives an OK sign, showing The Once Over is the first step towards a healthier website

Before you book, the questions everyone asks

Is it actually free?

Yes. Properly free.

No card, no catch, no clever upsell waiting at the end of it.

I built this business by being useful first, and this is me being useful. If your site turns out to be grand as it is, I will tell you that and we will both get on with our day.

Are you just going to tell me I need a brand new website?

No.

Sometimes the answer is a few tweaks. Sometimes a tidy-up. Sometimes the bones are good and the site just needs bringing up to date.

A full rebuild is the right call now and then, but only when it genuinely is.

I will tell you the smallest thing that fixes it, not the biggest thing I could sell you.

My site is a bit of a state, or a mate built it. Are you going to be harsh about it?

Never.

Half the sites I look at were built by a mate, a nephew, or someone at 11pm with a glass of wine (and that last one might even be you!).

No judgement here.

Most sites are doing their best with what they were given. The Once Over is me looking at what you have and telling you, kindly and honestly, what is working and what could be better.

What do I actually get out of it?

A clear picture of where your site stands.

The good bits, the bits holding you back, and the bits quietly costing you.

You get my read on it and a quick chat to talk it through, so you are not left squinting at a report on your own.

Just the things that matter and what to do about them.

Do I have to hand over passwords and logins?

No.

I look at your site the same way your customers, Google and AI tools do. From the outside in.

No logins, no passwords, nothing handed over.

And if you have lost access to your own site, which happens more than you would think, that is one of the things worth knowing about.

Can my site be fixed, or does the whole lot have to go?

Depends on the site, and you will get a straight answer either way.

Plenty of sites can be fixed, freshened and brought back to life for far less than starting over.

Some have been bolted together over so many years that a clean start is the kinder option.

You will know which camp yours is in by the end of our chat, and why.

How long does it take, and what do I have to do?

Not much, on your end.

You point me at your site, we book a quick chat, and I do the looking.

The call itself is about fifteen minutes. You do not need to prepare anything or know any technical words.

That part is my job, not yours.

Already know the bigger issue is AI search?

Some of you do not need me to look first.

You already know your site is behind, and what you actually want is to know how to get found when people ask ChatGPT, Google’s AI results and the rest for a business like yours.

That is the AI Search Review.

The in-depth one.

A proper assessment of how ready your site is for the way people search now, what is helping, what is missing, and what needs to change.

It is for businesses that already know AI search matters and want a fuller plan for being found, understood and recommended.

Not sure which you need?

Start with The Once Over.

If your site just needs a tidy-up, I will tell you.

If it needs deeper AI search work, I will tell you that too.

Either way, you will know where you stand by the end of the chat.
